Continuing a tradition that is in place since its inception more than 50 years ago, Dunton Rainville strives to bring more to the table for our clients. Thanks to a formula that combines the highest quality service and a diverse set of skills, we have become leading practitioners in many fields of law. Today, the firm is made up of more than 90 professionals practicing in different vocations and fields of law.

Dunton Rainville serves a broad clientele in both the public and private sectors, ranging from financial institutions and multinationals to small businessesThe firm also acts on behalf of various governmental departments and para-governmental agencies.

Many of our former partners have become prominent figures in the judicial system. Most notably, the Honourable Maurice Riel, one of the firm’s founders, was appointed Senator while still active at our firm. Mr. Justice Gerald Le Dain became the Dean of Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto after leaving Dunton Rainville, and has since been appointed Judge of the Federal Court of Appeal and, subsequently. Supreme Court Justice. Mr. Albert Bissonnette became a member of the Anti-dumping Tribunal. Mr. Justice Gérald J. Ryan sat as a Judge of the Superior Court for the District of Montréal for approximately 25 years. Mr. Jean Girouard, a former partner, has since been appointed Judge of the Labour Court in Montréal. Mr. Justice Marc DeWever, Mr. Justice Michel Caron and Mr. Justice Michel Déziel all sit as Judges of the Québec Superior Court. Mr. Justice Jean-Pierre St-Onge became the Speaker of the Québec National Assembly and now presides as a Judge of the Court of Quebec. Madam Justice Brigitte Charron is currently a Judge of the Court of Quebec, Civil Division. Dunton Rainville is proud to have counted among its ranks these qualified jurists who have all left an indelible mark on the practice of law at both the provincial and national levels.

Our firm partners with some of the best human resources and industrial relations specialists in the Province of Québec. In addition, some of our lawyers are chartered human resources and industrial relations counsellors.

Through their social and professional involvement, the members of our firm contribute to our storied success. Many of our attorneys regularly write for specialized legal publications, give conferences and host seminars in a wide range of fields of practice. We also participate in the administration of public assets and non-profit organizations.
