Many of our former partners have become prominent figures in the judicial system Mr. Justice Gerald Le Dain became the Dean of York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto after leaving Dunton Rainville, and then a Judge of the Federal Court of Appeal before being named a Supreme Court Justice. Mr. Justice Gérald J. Ryan sat as a Judge of the Superior Court for the District of Montréal for more than 25 years. Mr. Jean Girouard sat for many years as a Judge of the Labour Court in Montréal before retiring. Mr. Justice Marc DeWever, Mr. Justice Michel Caron and Mr. Justice Michel Déziel all sit as Judges of the Québec Superior Court. Mr. Justice Jean-Pierre St-Onge became the Speaker of the Québec National Assembly and now presides as a Judge of the Court of Québec. Madam Justice Brigitte Charron and Mr. Justice Jimmy Vallée are currently Judges of the Court of Québec. Madam Justice Sophie Beauchemin sits as a judge at Montreal municipal court. In addition, one of the founders of Dunton Rainville, the Honourable Maurice Riel, was appointed a Senator while he was still active in the firm, which he left in 1975.
